Resources for Parents

Thank you for supporting your student's choice for life-changing off campus study and for considering Wildlands Studies projects. At Wildlands Studies, we offer students a unique opportunity to be involved firsthand with wildlands research as part of one of our project teams. If your student chooses to study with us, they will need your full support to help navigate the financial and logistical aspects of a field study course, particularly if their choice is an international one. We encourage students to take the lead on all necessary preparations, contacting us directly with any questions, and drawing on your support for others. Students who take an active role in preparations will understand more what is expected of them on the project and will experience greater learning and development overall.

As you support your student's choices of field study programs, you may have questions of your own. The following resources were compiled specifically for parents of students considering a Wildlands Studies Field Project. If you would like more information about a specific project, please see the individual Project webpage under the header of Environmental Field Projects, which contains a full Project description, the Project’s Academic Syllabus and Project Manual. We also welcome your phone calls or email if you have questions. Please feel free to contact us.
